REVISED CRANKSHAFT INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
The crankshaft installation procedure has been revised. Use the following procedure to properly install and seat the crankshaft.






TOOL REQUIRED: J 36660 Torque Angle Meter

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Lubricate rod and main bearings with oil.

NOTICE: Use care when installing crankshaft to avoid damaging journals, bearing inserts, or connecting rods.

2. Crankshaft.
3. Main bearing caps and studs/bolts.

NOTICE: Failure to thrust crankshaft per procedure may cause premature bearing or crankshaft wear.

4. With crankshaft bearings and bearing caps installed and studs/bolts started, thrust crankshaft rearward to set and align bearing caps, then thrust crankshaft forward to align front face of # 3 thrust main bearing.

TIGHTEN:
^ Main bearing studs/bolts to 50 Nm (37 lb.ft.) + 75° using J 36660.
^ Connecting rod cap nuts evenly to 20 Nm (15 lb.ft) + 75° using J 36660.
