WATER LEAKS AT FRONT FLOOR AREA

1993 CAMARO

CONDITION:

Customer may comment about water leaks at the front floor area on either side of the vehicle.

CAUSE:

A bumper located on the hinge pillar just forward of the upper door hinge may have fallen off the vehicle.

CORRECTION:

Combine P/N 10215360, Bumper, and P/N 10185925, Retainer and install on the vehicle using the following procedure.

PROCEDURE:





1. Obtain P/N 10215360 Bumper and using a utility knife, (or other suitable tool) remove the attaching "carrot" from the part.
2. Obtain P/N 101 85925 Retainer, and insert through hole in "bumper" to create an assembly.
3. Reaching through the front door jamb area, clean the hinge pillar surface, just forward of the lower edge of the upper door hinge with a rag and an adhesive cleaner.
4. Apply a coating of GM P/N 12345297 Weatherstrip Adhesive, * 3M P/N 08061 Plastic and Emblem Adhesive or equivalent to the center area of the "bumper" and retainer.
5. Reaching through the front door jamb area, install the "assembly" to the hinge pillar in the hole located just forward of the lower edge of the upper door hinge.

The retainer will provide enough retention of the bumper to the hinge pillar until the adhesive/sealer dries (approximately 1/2 hour).
