Fig. 5 Exhaust Manifold Replacement:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle, then disconnect catalytic converter from exhaust manifold.
3. Lower vehicle, then disconnect electrical connectors from fuel injectors.
4. Disconnect vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator.
5. Relieve fuel system pressure as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE/RELIEVING FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE then disconnect and cap fuel lines at fuel rail.
6. Remove fuel rail to intake manifold attaching bolts, then remove fuel injectors and rail.
7. Remove spark plug wires from spark plugs and wire clips from supports.
8. Remove spark plugs from cylinder head, then remove front spark plug wire bracket and bolt.
9. Remove oil level dipstick and tube.
10. Disconnect air pipe, gasket and check valve as an assembly from intake and exhaust manifolds and cylinder head.
11. Remove exhaust manifold attaching bolts and studs, Fig. 5.
12. Remove heat shields, exhaust manifold and gasket.
13. Reverse procedure to install. Prior to installing oil level dipstick and tube, apply sealer 1052080 or equivalent around tube approximately 1/2 inch below bead.
