Fig. 5 Exhaust Manifold Replacement:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle, then disconnect catalytic converter from exhaust manifold.
3. Lower vehicle, then remove air intake duct.
4. Remove serpentine drive belt.
5. Remove center panel front left hand wheel well.
6. Remove alternator and A/C compressor upper brace.
7. Remove A/C compressor and position aside with refrigerant hoses attached.
8. Disconnect air pipe, check valve and hose as an assembly from exhaust manifold.
9. Disconnect spark plug wires from spark plugs and wire clips from supports.
10. Remove accessory and A/C compressor bracket braces.
11. Remove spark plug wire supports, then remove spark plugs from cylinder head.
12. Remove exhaust manifold attaching bolts and studs, Fig. 5.
13. Remove heat shields, exhaust manifold and gasket.
14. Reverse procedure to install.
