Master Cylinder Removal and Installation

NOTE: If vehicle is equipped with ABS brakes, refer to Antilock Brake System / Master Cylinder, ABS / Service and Repair.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Electrical connector from fluid level sensor.
2. Brake lines from master cylinder. Plug open lines to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
3. Two master cylinder mounting nuts, then the master cylinder.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Master cylinder with mounting nuts and tighten nuts to 27 Nm (20 ft lbs).
2. Brake lines to master cylinder.
3. Electrical connector to fluid level sensor.
4. Fill master cylinder to MAX fill indicator level in opening on top of reservoir.
5. Bleed system, refer to Brake Bleeding / Service and Repair.
