Removal/Installation
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove lefthand sound insulator.
3. Remove steering column coupling upper pinch bolt.
4. Remove hydraulic line retainer, then disconnect pump pressure and return lines from steering gear.
5. Raise and support vehicle.
6. Remove front wheel and tire assemblies.
7. Disconnect tie rods from steering knuckles.
8. Lower vehicle, then remove steering gear mounting clamps.
9. Move steering gear forward, then remove steering column coupling lower pinch bolt.
10. Remove steering column coupling and dash seal from steering gear.
11. Raise and support vehicle, then remove steering gear through left front wheel opening.
12. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten all bolts to specifications noting the following:
a. When installing steering gear, attach clamps and finger tighten all attaching nuts prior to tightening. Ensure dash seal is indexed and flush with steering gear.
