CORRECTION
Reprogram EBCM using Tech 1 and cartridge.
Delco Chassis has released a reprogramming cartridge for servicing vehicles with any combination of ABS brake codes 38, 41 and/or 86. This cartridge, which currently is to be used to reprogram the EBCM in 1992 J and L cars and is available only through Chevrolet Technical Assistance Network at 1-800-227-3175. Later in the 1993 model year, the reprogramming function will be added to the mass storage cartridge through a CD software release. The following criteria must be met before reprogramming the EBCM:
- Any combination of codes 38, 41 and/or 86 must be present.
Prior to reprogramming, if any codes other than 38, 41 and/or 86 are present, proceed to the vehicle's service manual SECTION 5E1 for diagnosis of those codes first.
After reprogramming, clear codes using the 1988 - 1993 Chassis selection of the Tech 1 Mass Storage Cartridge.
WITH FOOT OFF BRAKE PEDAL, start the engine twice and allow it to run for at least 10 seconds each time. If any codes return (including 38, 41 and/or 86), proceed to the vehicle's service manual SECTION 5E1 for further diagnosis.
If there are any questions regarding the usage of this reprogramming cartridge or diagnosis for the ABS VI brake system, please contact Delco Chassis technical assistance at the telephone numbers listed above.
