Condition:
Some owners of 1992 Chevrolet Cavaliers equipped with 2.2L (LN2) engine and automatic transaxle may experience a no start/stall on start condition along with service engine soon light. Possible codes are as follows: 14, 15, 21, 22, 23, 25, 32, 34, 35, or 66.

Cause:
Engine harness rub through. The manifold sensor branch may have rubbed on the transaxle position switch lever at the point of "break out" from the main harness.

Correction:
Repair wiring and tape manifold branch exposed wires at "break out" from the main harness (wrap twice). Reroute manifold sensor branch outboard of heater pipe to keep wires from direct contact of the transaxle position switch. (See Illustration). Use the following procedures if the above condition exists.

1. Disconnect injector interconnect (C350), manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor, idle air control (IAC) solenoid, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) solenoid, and throttle position sensor (TPS).

2. Repair wiring as required. Refer to Section 8A of the Chevrolet Cavalier Service Manual for proper wiring repair.

3. Using common "black tape" (locally obtained part) tape the manifold sensor exposed wires at the point of "break out" from the main harness. (Wrap a minimum of two wraps.)

4. Reroute the entire manifold branch outboard of the heater pipe.

5. Reconnect injector interconnect (C350), manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor, idle air control (IAC) solenoid, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) solenoid, and throttle position sensor (TPS).
