Clockspring Assembly / Spiral Cable: Service and Repair

1. Deactivate airbag system. Refer to this system's Service and Repair.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable and wait ten minutes before removing inflator module.
3. Remove four bolts at rear of steering wheel, securing inflator module.
4. Rotate horn lead 1/4 turn and disconnect.
5. Disconnect electrical connectors and remove inflator module.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque mounting screws to 25 lb in
b. Following installation, activate airbag system.
c. Turn ignition switch to the On position and verify the ``Inflatable Restraint'' indicator flashes 7 to 9 times then turns Off. If indicator does not respond, refer to this system's Testing and Inspection.
