Engine Mount: Service and Repair

Do not raise or support engine by positioning jack under oil pan, crankshaft damper or other sheet metal components. Raise engine only enough to provide sufficient clearance for mount removal. Check for interference between rear of engine and cowl panel which could result in distributor damage.

FRONT MOUNT

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove engine mount through bolt, then raise front of engine to release weight from mount.
4. Remove mount to engine bolts and mount, Fig. 1.
5. Reverse procedure to install.

REAR MOUNT

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Support rear of engine to relieve weight on rear mount.
3. Remove mount to crossmember nut and washer.
4. Remove mount to transmission attaching bolt, then raise rear of engine slightly and remove mount, Fig. 1.
5. Reverse procedure to install.
