Fuel Injector(s) Replacement

Fuel Rail Assembly - Exploded View:

CAUTION: Use care in removing the injectors to prevent damage to the electrical connector pins on the injector, and the nozzle. The fuel injector is serviced as a complete assembly only. Since it is an electrical component, DO NOT immerse it in cleaner.

REMOVAL:

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Relieve the fuel system pressure, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELIEF.
3. Remove the upper manifold assembly, refer to UPPER MANIFOLD ASSEMBLY.
4. Remove the fuel rail assembly, refer to FUEL RAIL ASSEMBLY.

MPFI Injector Assembly:

5. Remove the injector retainer clip and discard.
6. Remove the MPFI injector assembly.
7. Remove the injector O-ring seals from both ends of the injector and discard.

MPFI Injector P/N Location:

Each injector is calibrated for a specific flow rate. When replacing fuel injectors, order replacements with the identical part numbers as the old injectors.

INSTALLATION:

1. Lubricate new injector O-ring seals with clean engine oil, and install them on the injector assembly.
2. Install new injector retainer clips on the injector assemblies.
^ Position the open end of the clip facing the injector electrical connector.
3. Install the MPFI injector assembly into the fuel rail injector socket with the electrical connector facing outward.
^ Push in far enough to engage the retainer clip with the machined slots on the rail socket.
4. Install the fuel rail assembly.
5. Install the upper manifold assembly.
