Fig. 13 Upper Control Arm Replacement:






1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove wheel housing seal and lower center panel.
4. On models equipped with Selective Ride Control, disconnect shock absorber actuator electrical connector.
5. On all models, using a suitable jack stand, support lower control arm.
6. Disconnect wheel speed sensor electrical connector and detach speed sensor cable from bracket.
7. Using tool No. J-33436 or equivalent, detach upper ball joint from steering knuckle.
8. Remove upper control arm to frame member attaching bolts and shims, Fig. 13. Note location and number of shims for installation.
9. Remove upper control arm from vehicle.
10. Reverse procedure to install. Install shims in same location as removed. Install upper ball joint stud cotter pin from rear to front of vehicle. After completing installation, check wheel alignment and adjust as necessary.
