Central Control Module/Pass-Key(R) Programming

PASS-Key(R) PROGRAMMING

A new service CCM is programmable so that the CCM can be matched to a particular set of ignition keys that come with the vehicle, instead of having to make new keys to match the service CCM.

The procedure for programming a key resistance value into a new CCM is as follows:

Important
^ Do not allow more than approximately 10 seconds to pass between any of the steps in the following procedure or the program sequence will halt. If this occurs, the procedure must be started from the beginning.

1. Insert the first ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder and turn to the "RUN" position.

2. Turn the key to "LOCK" and remove it from the lock cylinder. The program mode has now been entered.

3. The CCM will prompt the technician to insert the appropriate key into the ignitions switch by flashing the "SECURITY" lamp. The lamp will flash a number of times corresponding to the key number that is being programmed. At the CCM prompt, insert key Number 1 into ignition, but do not turn switch. Remove key. During this step, the CCM determines the resistance value of the key and stores it in memory.

4. If a valid key is sampled in Step 3, the CCM will prompt the technician to insert key Number 2 into the lock cylinder by flashing the "SECURITY" lamp twice. If an invalid key Number 2 is detected the CCM will exit the program mode and a fault code will be stored.

5. After key Number 2 is inserted into the lock cylinder and is determined to be valid, the system will finish programming and automatically exit the program mode, indicated by the "SECURITY" lamp going out.

Important
^ In the programming process, be sure to use the two keys provided with the vehicle. Using one key two times will not ensure that the CCM will accept the other key, if the original key is lost.
