Subject:
ENGINE OVERHEATING OR POOR AIR CONDITIONING PERFORMANCE

Model and Year:
1990-91 CORSICA AND BERETTA

Condition:
Engine cooling fan inoperative, which may result in engine overheating or poor A/C performance (if equipped).

Cause:
Engine cooling fan wiring leads may have rubbed against the transaxle case in between the point of "breaking out" of the main engine harness and the connector at the fan.

Correction:
Repair wiring and install a protective plastic conduit to insulate the wiring from direct contact on the transaxle case (See Illustration). Use the following procedure:

1. Disconnect engine cooling fan wiring leads.

2. Repair wiring as required. Refer to Section 8A of the applicable Service Manual for proper wiring repair.

3. Obtain a length of approximately 9 inches (225 mm) of 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) diameter plastic conduit, P/N 8919354 (or equivalent). Install over the cooling fan wiring, starting at the "break out point" of the cooling fan wiring, and run towards the cooling fan.

4. Using common "black" tape (locally obtained part), tape both ends of the conduit to the wires, then tape the entire length of the conduit.
