Subject:
AIR CONDITIONER INOPERATIVE
Model and Year:
1991 CORSICA/BERETTA WITH 2.2L ENGINE
Condition:
A/C high-side pressure switch connector becomes partially disconnected, or will not stay connected, causing the A/C to be inoperative.
Cause:
Due to the orientation of the A/C hose during assembly, the switch connector may contact the generator brace, with engine movement. (This movement occurs during engine acceleration/deceleration.) The combination of the connector making contact with the brace, and the engine moving, may partially "unplug" the switch. Refer to Figure 1.
Correction:
Recover refrigerant and replace the hose to condenser inlet line "O" ring, using the proper handling procedures provided in the Service Manual.
Before tightening the joint, align A/C hose as shown in Figure 2, keeping this orientation while torquing the joint to proper specifications. Complete the procedure as provided in the Service Manual.
Warranty and Labor Time Information:
Use current Labor Operation and Time for "O" Ring Replacement.
