Fig. 14 Lower Control Arm Replacement:
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove both spring protectors, then install spring compressor J-33432 or equivalent.
4. Compress front spring with tool, then support lower control arm with suitable jack stand.
5. Disconnect shock absorber and stabilizer shaft link from lower control arm.
6. Disconnect front wheel speed sensor electrical connector, then detach speed sensor cable from bracket.
7. Disconnect lower ball joint from steering knuckle.
8. Remove lower control arm to frame member attaching bolts, then remove lower control arm, Fig. 14.
9. Reverse procedure to install. When installing, position lower ball joint stud so that cotter pin can be installed from rear to front of vehicle. When tightening stabilizer shaft link, lower control arm and shock absorber lower attaching bolts and nuts, use jack stands to hold suspension at proper trim height.
