Fig. 17 Water Pump Replacement:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove air cleaner and intake duct assembly.
3. On 1989 models, disconnect manifold air flow sensor electrical connector.
4. On all models, remove surge tank pressure cap, then drain cooling system.
5. Disconnect upper radiator hose from coolant outlet.
6. Disconnect coolant hose at throttle body.
7. Disconnect electrical and vacuum connectors at EGR solenoid.
8. Remove thermostat housing attaching bolts, then remove housing and thermostat, Fig. 17.
9. Reverse procedure to install.
