This Bulletin revises step # 1 of the Service Procedure and The Claim Information section of Chevrolet Campaign Bulletin 89C16, dated September, 1989. Specifically, both areas now contain information for handling transaxles which Hydra-Matic informs the dealer not to replace.
SERVICE PROCEDURE (REVISED 1. Phone Hydra-Matic (use applicable phone number from "Parts Information" section) and provide them the Bar Code Number (see illustration page 3 of bulletin) from the transaxle to be replaced. Hydra-Matic will then confirm that the transaxle involved does or does not require replacement. If Hydra-Matic informs the dealer that the transaxle does not require replacement, install the Campaign Identification Label and return the vehicle to the customer. If Hydra-Matic informs the dealer that the transaxle does require replacement, proceed with steps 2 & 3 of the campaign bulletin.
NOTICE: WHEN RETURNING TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLIES TO HYDRA-MATIC AFTER PERFORMING THE CAMPAIGN SERVICE PROCEDURE, BE SURE TO CAREFULLY READ AND FOLLOW THE RETURN SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS ON PAGE 4 OF THE CAMPAIGN BULLETIN.

Assembly
Campaign Administrative Allowance
The $220.83 identified in the "Net Amount" column represents 30% of dealer cost for all transmission parts plus 3 quarts of transaxle fluid required for the repair. Transaxles will be ordered directly from Hydra-Matic on a no charge basis.
Dealers will automatically receive the correct labor and material allowance based on the labor operation performed.
