Fig. 7 Valve Spring Compression:

1. Remove rocker arm cover as outlined under ROCKER ARM COVER.
2. Remove rocker arms and spark plugs.
3. Install air line adapter tool No. J 23590 or equivalent, into spark plug port and apply compressed air to hold valves in place.
4. Using valve spring compressor tool No. J 5892-B or equivalent, compress valve spring, Fig. 7, and remove valve locks and cap.
5. Remove spring, valve stem oil seal and shim.
6. Reverse procedure to install, ensuring locks seat properly in upper groove of valve stem, grease may be used to hold locks in place while releasing compressor tool.
