Thermostat: Service and Repair

Thermostat & Housing Replacement:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain cooling system, until coolant lever is below level of thermostat.
2. Remove air cleaner and air duct, as necessary.
3. Relieve fuel system pressure as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE/RELIEVING FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE
4. Remove throttle body and plenum.
5. Disconnect radiator from thermostat housing.
6. Remove thermostat housing attaching bolts, then remove housing and thermostat, Fig. 20.
7. Reverse procedure to install.
