BUZZER SWITCH ASSEMBLY,
STEERING COLUMN LOCK CYLINDER SET,
SWITCH ACTUATOR RACK,
STEERING SHAFT LOCK BOLT,
TILT & SHOE BRACKET,
COLUMN TILT BUMPERS,
KEY RELEASE LEVER,
STEERING COLUMN BOWL & JACKET ASSEMBLY.

NOTICE:
Steering column must be removed from car before proceeding with the following steps.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
Tools Required:

J 35689-A Terminal Remover.
J 21854-01 Pivot Pin Remover.

1. Perform steps 1 through 20, REMOVE OR DISCONNECT, Sub-Section A.
2. Perform steps 1 through 3, REMOVE OR DISCONNECT, Sub-Section B.
3. Place lock cylinder in "Off-Lock" position and remove key.
4. Buzzer switch (21). Use screwdriver to lift switch tab and pull gently on wires to remove.
5. Lock retaining screw (23).
6. Lock cylinder (25).
7. Retaining plate screws (29).
8. Switch actuator rack (30), ignition switch actuator rod (31) and lock bolt retaining plate (28).
9. Steering shaft lock bolt (26) and lock bolt spring (27).

NOTICE: On models equipped with key release lever proceed as follows:
^ Key release lever bolt (34).
^ Key release lever (35) through slot in bowl and jacket assembly (24) as shown.
^ Key release lever spring (36).

10. Tilt bracket screws (20).
11. Tilt lever and shoe bracket assembly (19).
12. Column tilt bumpers (22) with vise grips, as required. If bumper is broke off use a 5.9 mm (7/32 In.) drill to remove remaining piece of bumper.
13. Rod cap (33), if required.
14. Bowl and jacket assembly (24).




INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Three tilt bumpers (22), as required, into column bowl and jacket assembly (24) until bottomed.
2. Tilt lever and bracket assembly (19) into column bowl and jacket assembly (24)
3. Screws (20) and torque to 3.6 Nm (32 Lbs. In.).

NOTICE: On models equipped with key release lever proceed as follows:
^ Key release lever spring (36), centered on boss, with loop end of spring "up" and straight end against casting.
^ Key release lever (35) through slot in column bowl and jacket assembly (24).

IMPORTANT
^ Lever (35) must engage loop in spring (36) as shown.
^ Key release lever bolt (34) with bolt shoulder inside lever hole as shown.

4. Lubricate steering shaft lock bolt (26) with lithium grease.
^ Steering bolt (26) and lock bolt spring (27).
5. Lock bolt retaining plate (28) onto actuator rack (30).
6. Switch actuator rack (30) and ignition switch actuator rod (31) with retaining plate (28) attached: insert rack through opening in steering bolt (26) until tight against bolt retaining plate (28).
7. Retaining plate screws (29) and torque to 3 Nm (27 Lbs. In.).
8. Steering column lock cylinder set (25): hold barrel of lock cylinder, insert key and turn to "Accessory". position (ccw), install the lock set into the lock opening in steering column bowl and jacket assembly (24) while holding rack (30) against lock plate (28).
9. Lock retaining screw (23) and torque to 2.5 Nm (27 Lbs. In.). After the screw is in place, turn the lock cylinder to the "Start" position and the rack will extend, also the steering shaft lock bolt can be seen extending and retracting as the lock is turned from start to lock.
10. Place lock cylinder in the "Off-Lock" position and remove the key.
11. Buzzer switch assembly (21) down into retaining bore until bottomed with plastic tab covering lock retaining screw (23).
12. Perform steps 1 thru 8, INSTALL OR CONNECT, Sub-Section B.
13. Perform steps 2 thru 20, INSTALL OR CONNECT, Sub-Section A.
