Test K: Outside Temperature Accuracy Test
Sensor Locations - Typical:
Disconnect the outside temperature sensor connector. Connect the two red test leads of the J-33431 instrument panel tester to the outside air temperature sensor connectors terminals A (BLK/WHT) and B (LT GRN/BLK). Set the tester dials to 972 ohms (122 degrees Fahrenheit), 3500 ohms (68 degrees Fahrenheit), and 9410 ohms (32 degrees Fahrenheit). Turn the ignition switch "OFF" and "ON" each time the resistance has been changed.
1. If the outside temperature display is within 6 degrees Fahrenheit, then the cluster is good. Replace the outside air temperature sensor if readings seemed inaccurate with the sensor connected.
2. If the outside temperature display is not within 6 degrees Fahrenheit, check the DK GRN wire for high resistance. If good, then replace the instrument cluster.
