Water Pump: Service and Repair

Fig. 15 Water Pump Installation:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain cooling system.
2. Remove accessory drive belt.
3. Remove alternator and alternator bracket.
4. Remove water pump pulley to water pump attaching bolts, then the pulley from water pump.
5. Remove four water pump to block attaching bolts, then the water pump, Fig. 15.
6. Clean sealing surfaces of pump and engine block. Install new gasket and pump, tighten attaching bolts to specifications.
7. Reverse removal procedures to complete installation.
