This system consists of a solenoid valve mounted in the primary idle circuit of the carburetor, Figs. 19, 20 and 21. The solenoid valve cuts off fuel supply to prevent dieseling when the ignition is shut off, and to improve fuel economy and reduce catalyst overheating during deceleration.
Fuel supply is cut when the following conditions are met:
a. Coolant is at normal operating temperature.
b. Clutch is not depressed (switch off).
c. Throttle closed (idle switch on).
d. Engine speed above 2500 RPM.
