Oil Pan: Service and Repair

1987-88

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle, then drain crankcase.
3. Disconnect transmission oil cooler lines at flywheel cover.
4. Disconnect catalytic converter AIR pipe clamps at manifold and exhaust pipe.
5. Disconnect starter motor electrical connectors, then remove starter motor.
6. Remove oil filter, then disconnect oil cooler adapter at block.
7. Remove flywheel cover, then disconnect oil cooler line at oil pan.
8. Remove ESC shield, then the front crossmember braces.
9. Remove oil pan attaching bolts, then rotate crankshaft and remove oil pan.
10. Reverse procedure to install. Torque oil pan retaining bolts to 80 inch lbs.
