Defect & Vehicles Involved, Owner Notification, Dealer Campaign & Parts Information

DEFECT INVOLVED

General Motors has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety may exist in certain 1988 Chevrolet Celebrity model vehicles equipped with a 2.8L (RPO LBG) engine. The fuel feed hose could leak at the coupling on the engine end of the hose assembly. This condition could allow fuel to leak into the engine compartment and an engine compartment fire may result without prior warning. Such a fire could, in time, spread to the passenger compartment.
To prevent this condition from occurring, the fuel feed hose assembly must be inspected, and if necessary, replaced with a new hose assembly according to instructions contained in the service Procedure section of this bulletin.
