Parts, Service Procedure, Campaign Label & Claim Information

PARTS INFORMATION

Parts, if required, are to be obtained from General Motors Service Parts Operations (GMSPO). To ensure these parts will be obtained as soon as possible, they should be ordered from GMSPO on a "C.I.O." order with no special instruction code, but on an advise code (2).
Of the approximately 3,500 vehicles involved in this campaign it is estimated that 3,200 (91%) will require engine cradle replacement. Order parts accordingly based on attached involved vehicle listing.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Raise vehicle on hoist to make underside of engine cradle accessible to read run date.

2. Underside of engine mounting bracket (attached to right hand side rail and front cross member of cradle as arrow indicates on Figure 1) should be cleaned using a naptha or paint thinner to remove wax coating.

3. Locate engine cradle run date which is stamped on underside of engine mounting bracket per detail drawing (See Figure 2).

Dates of suspect cradles include 10 NO 87, 11 NO 87, 12 NO 87 and 13 NO 87. Vehicles with cradles produced on these dates must be replaced. Reference the 1988 Chevrolet Celebrity Service Manual, Section 2A for cradle replacement.

4. Vehicles equipped with cradles with non-suspect dates (dates other than November 10, 11, 12, or 13, 1987) should be resealed with G.M. approved wax or undercoating as replacement of the cradle is not required.

5. Install Campaign Identification Label.

CAMPAIGN IDENTIFICATION LABEL

Each vehicle corrected in accordance with the instructions outlined in this Product Campaign Bulletin will require a "Campaign Identification Label". Each label provides a space to include the five (5) digit dealer code of the dealer performing the campaign service. This information may be inserted with a typewriter or ballpoint pen.
CAMPAIGN IDENTIFICATION LABEL
Each "Campaign Identification Label" is to be located on the radiator core support in an area which will be visible when the vehicle is brought in for periodic servicing by the owner.

Apply "Campaign Identification Label" only on a clean dry surface.

CLAIM INFORMATION

Submit a Product Campaign Claim with the information indicated below.
* Campaign Administrative Allowance

** The "Parts Allowance" should be the sum total of the current GMSPO Dealer Not price plus 30% of all parts required for the repair.

*** The $0.10 identified in the "Net Amount" column represents the cost plus 30% for wax/sealer used in conjunction with labor operations V4610 and V4611. Dealers will automatically receive the correct labor and material allowance based on the labor operation performed.
