Canister Purge Solenoid: Service and Repair

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.

2. Electrical connector and hoses from solenoid.

3. Canister bolts and canister.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Canister bolts and canister.

2. Hoses and electrical connector on solenoid.

3. Negative battery cable.

4. Perform "Idle Learn Procedure" as follows:

a. Install Tech 1 "Scan" tool.

b. Ignition "ON," engine "OFF."

c. Select "IAC SYSTEM," then "IDLE LEARN" in the "MISC TEST" mode.

d. Proceed with idle learn as directed.

This procedure allows the Electronic Control Module (ECM) memory to be updated with the correct Idle Air Control (IAC) valve pintle position for the vehicle and provides for a stable idle speed.
