Water Pump: Service and Repair

Water Pump Mounting (2.0L):

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative cable at the battery.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Remove the drive belt, then the alternator and bracket.
4. Remove the water pump pulley attaching bolts, and pulley.
5. Remove the water pump attaching bolts, then the pump.

Clean
Be sure the sealing surfaces are clean.

INSTALLATION
1. Install a new gasket, then the pump and torque bolts to
25 Nm (18 ft lbs).
2. Install the water pump pulley and torque bolts to 30 Nm (22 ft lbs).
3. Install the alternator and bracket, then the drive belt.
4. Fill the cooling system.
5. Connect the battery, then start the engine.

Inspection
Inspect for coolant leaks.
