This bulletin provides Service Manual updates for V6 and V8 accessory drive belt routings for 1988 and 1989 Camaro and 1989 Caprice models.

The 1989 Camaro models equipped with V8 engines and Caprice models equipped with 5.0L (VIN Code E, RPO L03) or 4.3L (VIN Code Z, RPO LB4) engines, excluding Caprice models used as police (RPO 9C1) and taxi cab (RPO 9C6), will be using a new slack side belt routing as shown in Figure 1 of this service bulletin.

The 1988 Camaro models with V8 engines will continue to use the tight side belt routing as shown in Figure 2 of this service bulletin and in the 1988 Camaro Service manual.

The 1989 Caprice models with 5.7L (VIN Code 7, RPO L05) or Caprice models used as police (RPO 9C1) and taxi cab (RPO 9C6) with 5.0L (VIN Code E, RPO L03) or 4.3L (VIN Code Z, RPO LB4) engines will also continue to use the tight side belt routing as shown in Figure 2 of this service bulletin and in the 1989 Caprice Service Manual.
