Section: 7A (VIIc)

Date: July, 1984
Subject: HARSH, DELAYED TRANSMISSION UPSHIFTS DUE TO TV CABLE CLIP RETAINER BIND

Model and Year: 1984 IMPALA, CAPRICE, AND MONTE CARLO WITH 5.7L DIESEL ENGINE
TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS

Cable Clip on "T" Button:

Delayed, harsh upshifts may be a result of the TV cable end clip binding on the bellcrank "T" button (see illustration). The cable end clip binding on the "T" button will cause the cable end to twist and partially extend the cable on light or moderate acceleration resulting in a high pressure shift..
To repair this condition, disconnect cable end from button and file or grind the flat surface on the "T" button. Reconnect cable end to "T" button and recheck for freeness of cable end to swivel on the "T" button.
