Subject: POWER WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY
SPECTAL POLICY ADJUSTMENT BULLETIN
Model and Year: 1984 CHEVROLET CORVETTE MODELS
TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS
Some 1984 Chevrolet Corvette models may experience a failure of the power window regulator. The regulator upper attaching bolt heads may interfere with the flex-rack in the full UP position resulting in damage to the rack.
SPECIAL POLICY ADJUSTMENT
Should power window regulator assembly malfunction beyond the new vehicle warranty period, Chevrolet will replace the regulator assembly at no charge for a period of three (3) years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service.
This "Special Policy Adjustment Bulletin," should be filed in the 3 ring binder furnished to the dealer by General Motors.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Power Window Regulator Removal
FIGURE 1 - Power Window Regulator - Service Procedure:
Removal (Refer to Figure 1)
1. Lower glass slightly.
2. Disconnect battery negative cable.
3. Remove armrest.
4. Remove speaker grille.
FIGURE 2 - Door Trim Panel Removal Procedure:
5. Remove door trim panel as follows: (Refer to Figure 2)
a. Remove 2 screws attaching armrest to trim panel. Push armrest inward to remove plastic hooks on armrest from slot on door trim panel.
b. Remove speaker grille (4 screws).
c. Remove door trim panel screws (5), one screw at remote plate behind handle.
d. Disconnect wire connectors to hatch lid release switch, door lock courtesy light and wiper-washer switch (left door only).
e. Remove remote control plate and courtesy lamp.
f. Remove tipper molding and air outlet.
6. Remove foam insulator.
7. Remove inner mounting plate.
a. Disconnect wire harness connectors at rear of plate.
b. Remove plate to door screws (8). Mark position of guide bolts.
c. Remove (3) bolts -- (1) plate to motor, (1) guide to plate, (1) guide to door and remove guide.
d. Disconnect rods at remote control and lock actuator (pull rod out of rubber at actuator), push plate down and pull top out to gain access to remote rod clip and pop out plastic guide.
e. Disconnect wire connector at window regulator motor.
f. Pull plate out and let it hang from lock rod at rear of door.
8. Remove (2) screws at weatherstrip to window opening on door.
9. Mark position and remove glass stop bracket.
10. Loosen anti-rattle pads (3) -- move to facilitate glass removal.
11. Remove regulator to glass nuts and remove glass through slot at top of door.
12. Remove (5) regulator bolts and remove from vehicle.
Installation
Reverse removal procedures to install new improved regulator, P/N14046661 (LH) or 14046662 (RH) obtained from WDDGM. Adjust glass as necessary.

When performing the repairs outlined in the Service Procedure of this bulletin, submit warranty claim for credit as follows:

Description: Replace door regulator assembly (2) both sides, according to the instructions outlined in the service procedure of this bulletin.
**The Parts Allowance should be the sum total of the current WDDGM Net Plus 30% of all parts required for the repair.

Claims for customer reimbursement or previously paid repairs are to be submitted to the Chevrolet Zone Office for review and disposition.
