Axle Bearing: Service and Repair

1984---88 CORVETTE

1. Remove drive shaft assembly as outlined in ``Drive Axle, Replace.''
2. Remove 2 bolts securing brake caliper bracket to support knuckle, secure caliper aside, then remove brake rotor.
3. Remove hub and bearing retaining bolts using a No. 45 Torx driver, Fig. 3.
4. Remove hub and bearing assembly.
5. Reverse procedure to install, torquing hub retaining bolts to 59-73 lb ft, then check rear suspension alignment.
