A/T - Overdrive Bind Up When Engaged

Corvette Automatic Overdrive Unit Behind 4 Speed Manual Transmission

PROBLEM: Bind up when overdrive is engaged

CAUSE: Overdrive sprag installed backwards

The overdrive unit is essentially a 2 speed automatic transmission designed to function in overdrive when the manual transmission is in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th gear at a .68 ratio.

Overdrive will be engaged by the EMC or can be overridden manually by a switch mounted on the console.




Be sure the sprag is assembled with the lip on the sprag cage towards oil lube hole on the clutch hub.
