Subject: DOOR GLASS TO WEATHERSTRIP SQUEAKING
Model and Year: 1982-1991 CAMARO
APPLICATION: 1982 - 1991 Prior To The Following VIN Breaks - ML171515
Condition: Some customers may comment about squeaking or ticking sounds while driving with the door glass in the full up position.
Cause: May be due to a sticking/slipping action of the door glass to the side roof rail weatherstrips on vehicles with standard roofs, or the opening and panel weatherstrips on cars with T-Tops (CC1 option).
Correction: Vehicles with standard roofs
Replace the side roof rail weatherstrips with new P/N 10198206 (Right Side) 10198207 (Left Side)
Vehicles with T-Tops (CC1 Option)
Replace the opening and panel weatherstrips (AS A SET) on the side of the vehicle affected. Both weatherstrips (opening and panel) should be replaced to obtain best anti-squeak results and maintain common gloss levels.
Opening Weatherstrips: P/N 10198208 (Right Side)
P/N 10198209 (Left Side)
Panel Weatherstrips P/N 10165500 (Right and Left Common)
These new parts have a silicone cured coating to reduce the noise.
Parts are currently available from GMSPO.
1991 vehicles produced after the above listed VIN breaks will have the new weatherstrips.
