REISSUE
Number: 84-77

Section: 8B (XII)

Date: Mar., 1984

Subject:
HEADLAMPS/TURN SIGNAL RELAY UNIT

Model and Year:
1984 BERLINETTA

TO:
ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS

This cancels and replaces 84-77 dated February, 1984 which should be destroyed. This issue corrects the first paragraph in which a word was missing.

Some early Berlinettas may exhibit a condition which will not allow the headlamps to be turned on or the turn signals to operate. This will occur only if the ambient temperature in the passenger compartment is at or below freezing temperatures. When the passenger compartment warms up, the switch may be turned on.

The cause of this condition is the interior and exterior lamp relay unit (light module), P/N 1115920, does not change its function at very low temperatures, but will function at normal passenger compartment temperatures.

FIGURE 1 - Relay Unit Location:

If this condition is experienced by the customer, replace the relay unit. The relay unit is located on the right hand side of the vehicle, under the dash, adjacent to and on the same bracket as the ECM (see illustration).
