Power Steering Fluid Cooler: Service and Repair
Power Steering Fluid Cooler Replacement (LFW, LFX)
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement Intake Manifold Cover Replacement.
2. Remove as much power steering fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir as possible.
3. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement Service and Repair.
4. Place drain pans under the vehicle as necessary.
5. Loosen the hose clamps (1) and disconnect the power steering cooler hoses (2) from the power steering fluid cooler (3).
6. Loosen the front bumper fascia enough in order to pull the front bumper fascia forward and access the power steering fluid cooler bracket bolt. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement Service and Repair.
7. Remove the power steering fluid cooler bracket bolt (1).
8. Remove the power steering fluid cooler bracket nut (3).
9. Remove the power steering fluid cooler (2) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Position the power steering fluid cooler (2) in the vehicle.
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
2. Install the power steering fluid cooler bracket bolt (1) and tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
3. Install the power steering fluid cooler bracket nut (3) and tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
4. Secure the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement Service and Repair.
5. Connect the power steering cooler hoses (2) to the power steering fluid cooler (3). Secure the hoses with the clamps (1).
6. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding Service and Repair.
7. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.
8. Remove the drain pans.
9. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement Intake Manifold Cover Replacement.
10. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement Service and Repair.
