Vacuum Brake Booster Check Valve: Service and Repair
Vacuum Brake Booster Check Valve and/or Hose Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
2. Apply and release the brake pedal several times until the pedal becomes firm to deplete the power vacuum brake booster vacuum reserve.
3. If equipped with the 4.4L engine, remove the intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. If equipped with the 4.6L engine, remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Disconnect the vacuum brake booster check valve and hose assembly (1) from the power vacuum brake booster.
6. Disconnect the vacuum brake booster vacuum hose (1) from the engine.
Installation Procedure
1. Connect the vacuum brake booster vacuum hose (1) to the engine.
A small amount of denatured alcohol may be used as a lubricant to ease installation, if necessary.
2. Connect the vacuum brake booster check valve and hose assembly (1) to the power vacuum brake booster.

3. If equipped with the 4.4L engine, install the intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. If equipped with the 4.6L engine, install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (Service and Repair).
