Power Steering Pump Replacement
Power Steering Pump Replacement (LH2) (4.6L)
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement (Front Air Deflector Replacement).
2. Remove the power steering pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
4. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the power steering reservoir outlet hose from the power steering pump.
6. Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe clip bracket nut from the pump.
7. Reposition the pipe clip bracket.
8. Loosen the fitting and remove the power steering gear inlet hose from the power steering pump.
9. Remove the power steering pump to engine mounting bolt.
10. Remove the power steering bracket to engine bolts.
11. Remove the power steering pump with the bracket from the vehicle.
12. Remove the power steering pump from the power steering bracket. Refer to Power Steering Pump Bracket Replacement (LY7) (Service and Repair)Power Steering Pump Bracket Replacement (LH2) (Service and Repair).
Installation Procedure
1. Install the power steering pump to the power steering bracket. Refer to Power Steering Pump Bracket Replacement (LY7) (Service and Repair)Power Steering Pump Bracket Replacement (LH2) (Service and Repair).
2. Install the power steering pump with the bracket to the vehicle.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
3. Install the power steering bracket to engine bolts and tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
4. Install the power steering pump to engine mounting bolt and tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
5. Install the power steering gear inlet hose to the power steering pump. Tighten the fitting to 40 Nm (30 lb ft).
6. Install the pipe clip bracket to the pump.
7. Install the power steering gear inlet pipe clip bracket nut and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
8. Install the power steering reservoir outlet hose to the power steering pump with the hose clamp.
9. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
10. Install the power steering pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (Service and Repair).
11. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair).
12. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding (Service and Repair).
13. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement (Front Air Deflector Replacement).
