Radiator Surge Tank Outlet Hose/Pipe Replacement (LSA)

Special Tools

- J 47622 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedures

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling Service and Repair.
2. Remove cross vehicle brace. Refer to Cross Vehicle Brace Replacement Service and Repair.






3. Reposition the surge tank outlet hose/pipe clamp (1) at surge tank using J 47622 Hose Clamp Pliers.
4. Remove the surge tank outlet hose/pipe (2) from the surge tank.
5. Remove the rear intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement - Rear Service and Repair.






6. Reposition the surge tank outlet hose clamp (1) at heater hose assembly using J 47622 Hose Clamp Pliers.
7. Remove the surge tank outlet hose/pipe nuts (2).
8. Remove the surge tank outlet hose/pipe (3) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure






1. Install the surge tank outlet hose/pipe (3) to the vehicle.

Caution: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners, or fastener joint surfaces, unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems. When using fasteners that are threaded directly into plastic, use extreme care not to strip the mating plastic part(s). Use hand tools only, and do not use any kind of impact or power tools. Fastener should be hand tightened, fully seated, and not stripped.

2. Install the surge tank outlet hose/pipe nuts (2) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
3. Reposition the surge tank outlet hose clamp (1) at heater hose assembly using J 47622 Hose Clamp Pliers.
4. Install the rear intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement - Rear Service and Repair.






5. Install the surge tank outlet hose/pipe (2) to the surge tank.
6. Reposition the surge tank outlet hose/pipe clamp (1) at surge tank using J 47622 Hose Clamp Pliers.
7. Install cross vehicle brace. Refer to Cross Vehicle Brace Replacement Service and Repair.
8. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling Service and Repair.
