Engine Flywheel Replacement

^ Tools Required
- J 45059 Torque Angle Meter

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the transmission assembly.
2. Use a Snap-On A144A Flywheel Turner, or equivalent to prevent the engine from rotating.
3. Remove the engine flywheel bolts.
4. Remove the engine flywheel.
5. Clean and inspect the flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection .

Installation Procedure





1. Install the engine flywheel.
2. Apply sealant, GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent, to the engine flywheel bolts.
3. Install the engine flywheel bolts finger tight.
4. Use a Snap-On A144A Flywheel Turner or equivalent to prevent the engine from rotating.

5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tighten the engine flywheel bolts.
^ Tighten the flywheel bolts a first pass to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the flywheel bolts a final pass, an additional 50° using the J 45059 .
6. Install the transmission assembly.
