Filler Tube Replacement



FILLER TUBE REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Drain the fuel tank to a level below the fuel fill hose, if necessary. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining Procedure.
2. Remove the left rear wheel house liner.
3. Using compressed air, blow any dirt and/or debris from around the fuel fill pipe and evaporative emission (EVAP) line connections.
4. Loosen the fuel fill hose clamp (1) at the fill pipe.




5. Disconnect the fuel fill hose (2) from the fuel fill pipe.
6. Disconnect the fuel tank EVAP recirculation line quick connect fitting (1) from the fill pipe line.




7. Remove the fuel fill pipe ground strap bolt.




8. Disconnect the fill pipe vent line (2) quick connect fitting from the EVAP canister.
9. Lower the vehicle.




10. Remove the fuel tank fill pocket opening grommet.
11. Remove the fuel tank fill pipe out through the opening in the pocket.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the fuel tank fill pipe in through the opening in the pocket.
2. Install the fuel tank fill pocket opening grommet.
3. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.




4. Connect the fill pipe vent line (2) quick connect fitting to the EVAP canister.




5. Position the ground strap to the bracket.
6. Install the fuel fill pipe ground strap bolt.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).




7. Connect the fuel tank EVAP recirculation line quick connect fitting (1) to the fill pipe line.

IMPORTANT: Clean the fill pipe or any dirt or debris. Ensure the fill pipe is installed to the original depth to the fill hose. The fill pipe bead must be inserted into the hose past the clamp position.

8. Connect the fuel fill hose (2) to the fuel fill pipe.




9. Tighten the fuel fill hose clamp (1) at the fill pipe.

Tighten the clamp to 4 N.m (35 lb in).

10. Install the left rear wheel house liner.
11. Connect the negative battery cable.
12. Perform the following procedure in order to inspect for leaks:
1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
13. Install the fuel injector sight shield.
