Canister Purge Solenoid: Service and Repair



EVAPORATIVE EMISSION (EVAP) CANISTER PURGE SOLENOID VALVE REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield.
2. Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) pipe (2) quick connect fitting from the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.




3. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector (1) from EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.




4. Remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve bolt.
5. Remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to install a NEW O-ring on the EVAP purge solenoid valve.

2. Install the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve bolt.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb ft).




3. Connect the engine harness electrical connector (1) to EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.




4. Connect the EVAP pipe (2) quick connect fitting to the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.
5. Install the fuel injector sight shield.
