SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 2
DISABLING PROCEDURE
1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicles wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Place the ignition in the OFF position.
3. Open the hood and locate the underhood fuse center (1) on right/passenger side.
IMPORTANT: This inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) has 2 fused power inputs. To ensure there is no unwanted SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs, remove both AIR BAG (IGN) and SIR (BATT) fuses. With both AIR BAG fuses removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
4. Lift the cover for the underhood fuse center.
5. Locate and remove the Air Bag Fuse from the underhood fuse center.
6. Remove the rear seat.
7. Locate the rear fuse center under rear seat, then remove the fuse center top cover.
8. Remove the SIR fuse from the rear fuse center.
9. To disable the seat belt retractor pretensioner - LF and side impact sensor (SIS) - left go to step 10. To disable the roof rail module - left go to step 15.
10. Remove the lower center pillar trim.
11. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) (6) from the seat belt retractor pretensioner - LF connector (5).
12. Disconnect the seat belt retractor pretensioner - LF connector (5) from the seat belt retractor pretensioner - LF (4).
13. Remove the CPA (1) from the SIS - left connector (2).
14. Remove the SIS - left connector (2) from the SIS (3).
15. Remove the trim molding from the rear quarter pillar.
16. Remove the CPA from the roof rail module - left connector.
17. Disconnect the roof rail module - left connector from the vehicle harness connector.
ENABLING PROCEDURE
1. Place the ignition in the OFF position.
2. To enable the seat belt retractor pretensioner - LF and SIS - left go to step 3. To enable the roof rail module - left go to step 8.
3. Install the SIS - left connector (2) to the SIS (3).
4. Install the CPA (1) to the SIS - left connector (2).
5. Connect the seat belt retractor pretensioner - LF connector (5) to the seat belt retractor pretensioner - LF (4).
6. Install the CPA (6) to the seat belt retractor pretensioner - LF connector (5).
7. Install the lower center pillar trim.
8. Connect the roof rail module - left connector to the vehicle harness connector.
9. Install the CPA to the roof rail module - left connector.
10. Install the trim molding to the rear quarter pillar.
11. Install both Air Bag Fuses, one in the underhood fuse center and one in the interior fuse center.
12. Replace both fuse center covers.
13. Install the rear seat.
14. Use caution while reaching in and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.The AIR BAG indicator will flash then turn OFF.
15. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle if the AIR BAG warning indicator does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle. Testing and Inspection
