Power Steering Pump Replacement



Power Steering Pump Replacement (LP1, LY7)
Removal Procedure





1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
2. Remove the power steering pulley.
3. Remove the power steering reservoir outlet hose from the power steering pump.





4. Disconnect the power steering pressure line from the power steering pump.





5. Remove the power steering pump bracket to engine bolts.
6. Remove the power steering pump and bracket assembly.





7. Remove the power steering pump to bracket bolts
8. Remove the pump from the bracket.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the power steering pump to the bracket.

2. Install the power steering pump to bracket bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 22 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).





3. Install the power steering pump and bracket assembly.
4. Install the power steering pump bracket to engine bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).





5. Connect the power steering pressure line to the power steering pump.
^ Tighten the fitting to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).

Important: Clean the material from the power steering pressure line and install a new seal.






6. Install the power steering reservoir outlet hose to the power steering pump.
7. Install the power steering pulley.
8. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
9. Bleed the power steering system.
