Park Brake Cable Mounting Bracket Replacement

^ Tools Required
- J 37043 Park Brake Cable Release Tool

Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in Service Precautions.

Removal Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle and suitably support.
2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly.





3. Pull down on the intermediate park brake cable (2) near the park brake cable connector (1).
4. Disconnect the intermediate park brake cable (2) from the park brake connector (1).





5. Use the J 37043 in order to depress the rear brake cable retainer.
6. Remove the rear park brake cable from the rear cable bracket (1).
7. Disconnect the park brake cable (2) from the park brake actuator lever (3).





8. Remove the park brake cable bracket mounting bolts.
9. Remove the park brake cable bracket.

Installation Procedure






1. Install the park brake cable bracket.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the (2) park brake cable bracket mounting bolts.

Tighten the park brake cable bracket mounting bolts to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.






3. Install the rear park brake cable (2) to the rear park brake cable bracket (1).
4. Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.
5. Connect the rear park brake cable (2) to the park brake actuator lever (3).





6. Pull down on the intermediate park brake cable (2) near the park brake cable connector (1).
7. Connect the intermediate park brake cable (2) to the park brake connector (1).
8. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. To ensure that the park brake cable retainers are seated, cycle the park brake pedal 1 to 2 times.
