Troubleshooting Hints - Power Windows

PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS
1. If all Power Windows are inoperative, check I/P Fuse 19 and I/P Circuit Breaker 2. If open, check for a short to ground in CKT 641 and CKT 70 for I/P Fuse 19, and CKT 2640 for I/P Circuit Breaker 2.
2. If windows move slowly, check that:
^ Windows free of mechanical binding and pivot joints are greased.
^ Battery is fully charged.
^ Ground G200 is clean and tight.
3. If switches do not illuminate when Park Lamps are turned "ON," refer to Interior Lamps. Testing and Inspection
4. If the Express Down Feature does not work, but window moves down with each switch depression, replace the Master Power Window Switch.
5. If the Rear Lockout Switch does not disable the Rear Windows, check CKT 1307 for a short to Battery +. If OK, replace the Rear Lockout Switch.
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems (see Troubleshooting Procedures). Diagnostic Aids
