Evaporative Emissions System: Testing and Inspection

EVAP System Inspection
Remove the Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) System vacuum switch from the hoses. Disconnect the purge hose at the canister. Inspect all hoses/pipes/components for contamination. If a component is malfunctioning due to contamination, the component must be replaced. Contaminated hoses/pipes should be blown out with compressed air.

Notice: Disconnect the hoses/pipes from the EVAP canister, the EVAP solenoid and the EVAP switch before applying compressed air.

If carbon contamination of the system is evident, replace EVAP canister.
