General Service Precautions
CAUTION: When performing service on or around SIR components or SIR wiring, follow the procedures listed in Air Bags Arming and Disarming to temporarily disable the SIR system. Failure to follow procedures could result in possible air bag deployment, personal injury, or unneeded SIR system repairs. Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming
CAUTION: During service procedures, be very careful when handling a Sensing an Diagnostic Module (SDM). Never strike or jar the SDM. Never power up the SIR system when the SDM is not rigidly attached to the vehicle. All SDM and mounting bracket fasteners must be carefully torqued and the arrow must be pointed toward the front of the vehicle to ensure proper operation of the SIR system. The SDM could be activated when powered while not rigidly attached to the vehicle which could cause deployment and result in personal injury.
