Owner Letter
October, 1993Dear 1994 Model Cadillac Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
General Motors has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in some 1994 model Cadillac Eldorados and Sevilles. The throttle control cable can become disengaged from the retaining bracket allowing the cable to interfere with the throttle cam mechanism. Such interference could result in the throttle sticking in the open or closed position. While vehicle control can be maintained by applying the service brake, if the throttle sticks in the open position unexpected vehicle movement could result in a vehicle crash without prior warning.
To correct this condition, your Cadillac dealer will inspect your vehicle to ensure that the throttle control cable is fully seated in the retaining bracket and install a tie strap to further ensure that it is secure. Of course, this service will be performed at no cost to you.
The mailing of this letter has been coordinated to ensure that instructions for making this repair have been received by your dealer and that needed parts are available for your car. Please contact your Cadillac dealer as soon as possible to arrange a service appointment and courtesy transportation, if required. Please ask your dealer if you wish to know how much time is needed to perform this repair and process your vehicle.
